Canada’s East Coast (Road) Trip

Hi.

This wasn’t meant to be a travel blog, and yet it’s turning out that way. Hubby and I are making our way to Canada’s East Coast for our wedding anniversary. So many of our colleagues and friends have this on their bucket list and wanted to learn more about our trip that we thought we might as well capture it in the blog… so here goes. Would love your recos if you’re reading this.

Be warned, we are squeezing in a LOT in 10-ish days. We may need a vacation from our vacation… haha! So here’s our plan.

Day 1 – Fly into Halifax – we arrive around noon and pick up our car rental from the airport. Day 1 will be focused on Halifax. Overnight at Halifax.

Highlights – we plan on eating – a lot! We’ve both been to Halifax before on our own.

Day 2 – Drive along Lighthouse Rte to Peggy’s Cove, then take Hwy 103 to Mahone Bay, and make our way to Lunenburg. Overnight at Lunenburg at the historic Lennox Inn.

Day 3 – Take Hwy 12 towards Wolfville, and make our way to Grand Pre. Overnight in Grand Pre at the Olde Lantern Inn.

Highlights:

Day 4 – This is our longest drive in the trip – we’re off to Baddeck, Cape Breton to see the Cabot Trail. Overnight at Baddeck at Inverary Resort.

Day 5 – We will do a day tour along the Cabot Trail in an organized tour and take the Ferry to PEI in the evening. Overnight at PEI at Cranford Inn B&B.

Day 6 – Enjoy all the awesomeness at PEI. Finally no travels! Overnight at PEI.

Day 7 – Drive back to Halifax hopefully in time to catch a cruise aboard the Bluenose (replica) tall ship… I am so EXCITED!!!. Overnight at Halifax.

Day 8 – Return car to Halifax airport. Then hop on our flight to St. John’s Newfoundland. Overnight at Newfoundland.

Day 9 & 10 – Sightseeing in Newfoundland. A friend of ours is planning this one – more details to come.

Day 11 – Travel Day. Huh!! we spend the entire day on Mr. Porter’s plane from St. John’s to Halifax to Ottawa to Toronto. Crazy!!

That’s it… that’s our plan. Wish us luck. Looking forward to sharing all our hopefully glorious trip details with you.

Tata!
